Martae Brown

Restorative Justice Specialist | Community Advocate | Athlete Supporter

Martae is a passionate Restorative Justice (RJ) Specialist at Portland Public Schools, where he works tirelessly to foster healing and empowerment within the school community. Drawing on his deep understanding of the challenges facing students, particularly in Black communities, Martae is dedicated to creating spaces for dialogue, growth, and connection. With years of experience providing RJ training, he brings a compassionate yet firm approach to supporting schools in transforming conflict into opportunities for learning and growth.

Before transitioning to education, Martae was a professional football player, where he honed his leadership, teamwork, and mentoring skills. He is particularly focused on supporting student-athletes, helping them navigate the unique pressures of balancing academics, sports, and personal growth. His firsthand understanding of the challenges facing athletes equips him with the tools to foster resilience, discipline, and a sense of community.

A well-known figure in Portland, OR, Martae is deeply committed to supporting his Black community and advocating for justice and equity. His journey, combined with his professional expertise, allows him to serve as a powerful role model and advocate for change. 

Martae’s commitment to youth, education, and his community has made him a trusted resource for families, educators, and athletes alike.
